Ok, well if you want a place not too far from you that does minimal grooming, try Plattekill in the Catskills. It's not a drive to Vermont, but it's a low key mostly natural snowfall place. It does not groom too much, but it is also not the easiest of mountains. The greens and blues there may suit you.
I can only kick a puppy soo long.
