The Official Michigan Winter Thread
So freaking true. Was I pissed I ended my season, hell yeah. But we can move, we didn't end up like the poor kid from Massachusetts.
Even last year some guy got himself paralyzed from waist down at Highlands messing around in Funland. My guess same thing, came in hot and blew himself out landing flat or sumshit.
You want to learn jumps, cool. RELIGIOUSLY follow all the advice and tips. Get the speed right. It's one simple thing that makes the difference between a little bang or a day/season ender.
I didn't follow my own rules, I didn't watch where other people dropped in from to gauge the speed. Bad call.
You didn't speed check you mean. You can use the drop zone method, but it's going to vary between people. Not everyone goes the same speed even when flat basing.
Also, I just thought up an example to best explain to you the importance of speed checking vs drop zone...
Slope Style. Watch those riders between features and jumps. Sure, you can pick a drop zone for the first hit. After that, your drop zone will begin at the end of the last feature/jump you just hit. The only thing you can do after that is speed check.
