I had other plans on Friday, so I went Saturday. Saw something really crazy happen while I was at Liberty on Sat. evening. While on the ski lift, I saw a snowboarder (young adult age maybe) going really fast. He was approaching a young kid (5-8 I'm guessing) on skis. I thought the snowboarder would have stopped/turned/fallen, but nope. The snowboarder pinned/crashed into the kid skier, causing him to go up in the air, losing his skis, and fall down hard. Others on the lift with me only heard the sound and wondered what happened. The kid was on the ground for a long time (I'd say maybe around 20 or more minutes). A barrier was placed around him and a stretcher was brought to save him. Later on I heard an ambulance come, which has me wondering if it was for him. Regardless, it was scary to see.
I recommend anyone who snowboards to either stop, turn, or at least fall down if you are about to approach another skier/snowboarder to prevent an accident. At worst case I make a safe fall so no one gets hurt (I may only be a little sore).
