From what you describe you want the board for, I have a few ideas. In the trees as you know, agility and quick response is ideal. In deep pow, a longer board is generally recomended for better float. These two traight seem to be in conflict for what you want to do. One solution that I have found to work well is go with a wide board (even though you don`t need one for boot size) this will allow you to keep the length down and have the same float in pow. Another solution that seems to be gaining popularity is to go with a rocker which tends to naturally do better in pow. I think Burton Avenger mentioned that the K2 Jibpan and possibly some others use some tech in the board to allow you to drop overall length by a few Cm`s. I am sure he will chime in on this.
With a conventional board, I could suggest the Atomic Alibi or Alibi wide, the Atomic Radon which is a mid wide, The Rome Notch and the Anthem are good. The Rome Flag is basically the Anthem in a wide version. If you really are looking for a pow/glade free ride setup, you might look into boards like the Radon CT which has a split tail. Neversummer Summit I believe also comes in a pin tail. These shapes help the board maintain a nose high attitude in the pow.
