Ok i'm definitely getting a new board this season but i don't know what width i should get. My current board is a K2 fatbob 155, My specs are: 6'11, boot size 11.5-12 and i'm about 160. Sometimes i felt like my board was a little too wide and i had to put more effort into riding but i don't know if i should try a skinnier board (i was looking at an 08' Forum Destroyer reg. width) or stick with a wider one. Since the K2 was my first board, i don't really have an idea how a regular width board would ride, also my boot size makes it hard because i dont have 13's or higher (which you would definitely need a wide board), nor do i have 10' or lower (which are perfect for reg. widths). Any suggestions?
Just curious, what's the make and model of your boot? Some companies like 32 or Burton have a bulkier boot, which forces people in the gray area to use mid-wide to wide boards. While companies like Vans or Salomon are much more lower profile.
my boots are Northwave Vintage's. I spotted a mid-wide Forum Destroyer but i compared the width to a full wide model and it was only a difference of .3? And i was looking at the 156 but i'm thinking the 158 would be right about under my chin which is where it should be right?
For some people a wide board makes the difference between heel and toe drag, and not being able to fully carve and having no problems. Most physical differences may not seem that significant...but they are, because you have to take into consideration alot of things like sidecut, radius, etc etc.
Anyway, to find out if your boots are properly fitted or not, strap just the boot into the binding, and rock it onto the toe edge and see how far that goes. If you can rock it up to about 90*, you it's fine. If it's significantly more or less, then that's a bit of a problem.
