Yeah thats where i'm from and i dont really have that many friends who enjoy snowboarding as much as i do.so i figured i could hopefully find some peeps who live in Maryland and can chat or even maybe go snowboarding with one day.Let me know.
Holla
There were a lot, especially when riding in powder obviously. the pictures above were the day after they left all the runs ungroomed from fresh powder, so the groomed runs were pretty similar to stuff you would feel at Liberty.
With pow, the sound your board makes when carving through a turn is like a soft hiss. Its so nice to hear instead of the crunch you normally hear on hardpack. Also, turning in the pow felt much easier and natrual. For instance, my wife started this trip bascially a beginner. She would only heelside falling leaf everything and after the pow day, she was comfortable linking turns and going toeside. This probably had to do with the fact that falling in 14" of pow feels like falling into a cloud.
Also, my board base just loved the real snow. I boarded for 6 days straight and i still dont need a wax. After 2 nights at liberty, there is a noticeable need to wax because the manmade snow is much tougher on the base it seems. The pow in Utah was very dry to so when you did fall your beanie/neck gaiter didnt get all damp and wet. It just brushed right off like sand almost.
I am in the process of moving to Baltimore and will be there for presidents day weekend to snowboard.
I know everywhere will be crowded, does anyone think one place would be better to go to? Riding style -I like to make laps down the most difficult runs as many times as possible and stay in cheap motels
I was planning on going to Blue Knob, maybe Whitetail, and Seven Springs and have a hotel room booked in Somerset for the weekend.
Now I am starting to wonder if I should go to Snowshoe b/c maybe it would be less crowded.
Never skied North of Snowshoe on the east coast so all I know is what I have read here.
i live in bmore now (federal hill) hit up 7 springs. definently the best in the area..
also go out west whenever possible. I do at least 2 trips out west every year.. did wolf creak, CO this year.. hopefully making it out to telluride shortly here
Hey has anyone been liberty this week? If so, how are the conditions? The wife is gone all night tonight so I was thinking about going up there and boarding, but I wonder if the conditions are garbage.
Yeah, I'm jus concerned since its about 60 here that it will just be a sheet of ice if I go tonight. I would go on the weekend, but I can't stand the lift lines!
Yeah I will be there in the AM as well...they have snow in the forecast for tonight along with a lil grooming and dropping temps it should be decent in the morning ( fingers crossed)
Hey guys, I'm going to go ahead and integrate myself in this community, though now isn't the best time... Currently I'm in Russia but starting June I'm moving back to my house in Potomac MD, wanted to get to know some riders so I'm not a total loner next year. Doing the snowflex camp this summer, pretty stoked for next season, gonna hit up some local parks on the weekends and go big (Colorado) whenever I can. Excited to meet some members and go boarding!

WhiteTail and Liberty are prob the closest to you... But Snowshoe and 7springs are the best...
