You could check out Mt. Baldy. It's only about 2 hours or so away from San Diego. It's nice to go to on like a weekend and it's less crowded with fewer lines than Big Bear. The runs are good and definitely not boring.
And if you want cheap tickets, try Skiforfree.com. That's where I bought my tickets last time. They generally have like huge discounts (like 50-60%) on tickets for a couple different resorts in California. Who doesn't like discounts right? The promo code I had to use to buy the tickets was MB1. Hope this helps.
