edit: I was pretty proud of myself on my last couple of runs at Crystal last Saturday night though. I passed more people than those who passed me, including a bunch of skiers that I let drop in ahead of me (though they weren't bombing it like my wife likes to do). I don't have a GPS to measure my speed or anything but I felt like I was cooking on those runs, at least for me.
You can get free ones for your smart phone. They're accurate enough and gives you a sense of what you're doing.
