Thinking about doing an AM split session Saturday. If we get decent snow, might just go to Bert. At that point it is more likely a boot pack session on the West side. Otherwise I was looking at a bowl by St Mary's or the Jones Pass area. If anyone is interested.
Id be down for some pretty mellow bootpacking on saturday. This "injury" i had for 2 weeks seemed to work itself out and I want to continue to work out a bit but not push it too hard.
Just fired you a PM. I'll bring my extra gear. Not really worried about avalanches where we are going to be able to ride. Then again, it's never too soon to be thinking about them.
At the very least we can do some hands on with the gear.
I was planning on going up to Berthoud pass this weekend with the girlfriend and my roommate. Holler if you see us.
My schedule at work for the next two weeks is going to be a little varied so I'll be able to get a few mid-week days in. Weather permitting, I think I might make a solo trip before the weekend. I'm not sure where yet.
Made it up to Berthoud Pass today to scope out the snow situation. For mid October it's not looking too bad. I messed around a little bit on the East side. Other than me, there were two other guys on the west side of the pass and another group doing car laps down Hell's Half Acre.
24 degrees in the parking lot. Boot high, heavy snow, in most places but it's not enough to keep from hitting the ground in spots while riding. I did one pretty good cartwheel when my board clipped a big boulder underneath the snow.
Near the top of the old Mines Peak Lift, looking west. Forgive the Instagraming.
Great shot. Stanley Head wall far left of the pic. Middle of the pic is No Name, and the right most peak is Stanley. Looking good up there already. Can't wait to go play there on Saturday. Already have some great ideas of what will go. Feeling excited about this fall...
PSA people it's preseason lets keep getting radical to a minimum. Watched patrol pull a guy out of the trees at the bottom of Ramrod I don't think he was doing so well.
Not to be a d-bag, but I agree with BA on this. If you normally ride park and are hitting booters/rails you should already have your riding style and tuning preference locked.

Heard something hilarious and sad at the same time yesterday about the Peak 6 expansion on Breck. Looks like those fruity eco terrorists that burned the lodge down over in Vail years ago are threatening to torch peak 6 right now. The FBI is up here patrolling in full force. Had some friends run into them while skinning up the other day.
God, first world problems. Destroy the environment to protect the environment??? Not to mention too scared to go after the people hunting so lets go after people who go down the mountain with a piece of wood.
Well the reason is that Peak 6 is not part of the ski area yet. It is a land grab by Vail resorts that Vail resorts go approved. Environmentally safe? I am not sure where you get that.
As far as what they are doing, not really going to do anything. Vail won, you now have to pay to use your public lands.
Snowboarding is not environmentally friendly by any means.
Pollution, noise pollution, chemicals in the water to make the snow so it lasts/forms easier, diverging runoff, use of natural resource to make snow, cutting of trails, garbage, fossil fuel consumption, a snowboards production isn't exactly eco friendly, what happens to old boards after we chuck them?, etc. etc.
I love meeting these environmental activists that have like 3 kids. Go as green as you want shit head, it's never going to offset the damage to the environment you cause by having even so much as one child.
Exactly. I'm not sure anything humans do is actually environmentally friendly. That's why I always laugh at people who think we need to go to clean energy or use electric cars.
Except it's a lie. Where do you suppose the electricity comes from?
