Went up for first chair this morning. Ended up going up with some patrol friends since we were there so early. snow was really suprisingly nice. Lunch time and my legs are jello. deep and dense snow. super fun riding though..... The entire front range and their cousins all showed up now too. more people parked here than a holiday weekend. They are all suckers and went to chair 5 and chair 11. We already had that tracked up by 930. finished tracking up lionshead side when the crowd showed.....
dunno why my pictures keep showing u as attachments and not as the image itself.... oh well
Looks like a huge powder day today. I can't think of a better thing right now. Heading up to Bert myself. You an be assured it will be a round trip. Hoping that it is a good photo day. Pictures should be sick.
It looks like my little snow shovel will be used on my windshield again. I went out to get my snowboard from my truck for some waxin and there was a big mattress on top of my truck.
I hope The Basin did a shitty job plowing because I get the best parking spots when they do. It's been crowded. Monday I was able to get super close by parking in a spot deep with snow.
Heading to Loveland here in just a few minutes. Really need to get some shit done today, but this might be the last powder day of the season and I'm not gonna miss it.
I'll just ride my ass off until 1:00 or so then be back home by 2ish.
I'm so sorry to everyone who couldn't make it out today. Best day of the year. Very little wind, knee deep blower pow everywhere. Pretty crowded for a Tuesday and 9 got tracked out immediately, but I got a couple good laps in there. Grabbing a beer and headed to 8.
Not sure I've ever seen this type of blower pow this late. It is LIGHT.
8 is still money. Good stuff still to be found in the trees off of 6 and 4 too. About another hour and a half and I'm out of here. This might be my curtain call this season. If it is, it was a damn good one.
Arapahoe Basin was sick. The powder was up to my waist in spots. I bounced around 11, now it's sleepy times. Due to it being crowded, a lot got tracked out. Some of the lines I took today where amazing.
Probably the best day of the season at Bert yesterday. Ran the Plunge, lift gully, Rock Garden, and Floral Park yesterday. It was deeeeep!
On a side note, stuff is ridiculously filled in. Rock Garden is almost plowed garden. All of the drops, some of the usually 10-15 feet are covered. There are lines in the huge cliff band that I have never seen filled in. Right now I think there is more coverage than the 10-11 season at this time. Looks like the warm up is here now though.
Basin is claiming 4 inches but I think that's because they don't want a repeat of last time this happened where they had over a foot and everyone showed up. They started plowing at 6 a.m. at my place which means it's a substantial snowfall. Off to the Basin to test the last 2 pow decks of the year.
There's about 3 inches where I live. I live close to the Basin. I bet there is about 6 inches up there. It is snowing and the roads are bad. The roads are slushy. I was already on them.
I was at the Basin early this morning. 4 inches was accurate. It was deeper in some spots. I was told it was crazy dumping in Breck early this morning. It was not doing the same over here.
I left really early because my butt got wet from sitting on one of the chairs. The conditions where not the best, it was the dreaded fluff on crust. I bet however they have improved since it's been dumping now.
This is so lovely. Last season the basin was already closed by now. I can even go into the good ol' North Fork, which was closed off most of the season last year.
