No hibacks. Any thoughts on these things? Is there anybody that would even think about buying these things? I have no idea what the price point is on these, so don't ask me please. The link goes to the page with these in the flow catalog. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
I ride with k2 ufo boots right now so they are on the stiff side. But I also have a pair of burton ambush boots and they work just as well. If you like the surf loose skate feel you will love it if you want that tight I am locked in feeling you might not.
No backs are far from a new or original idea. There were quite a few people rocking no backs in the early to mid ninetees. At one point the big thing was baseless with no or low backs and cut-down boots. The boot tech wasn't up to par yet so blown up ankles were also popular.
With modern boot designs, that actually offer support and function, no back riding is coming back around. I like running no backs in deep pow, freedom! You don't need special bindings to get this feeling though (unless you ride some backdoor binding design.) I just use Flux without the highbacks on, I adjust the straps to fit and move the binder one set of holes toward the toes to make up for the offset. If you like it then buy some mid-range binders and make your own permanent pair. You don't need a high end stiff baseplate for this, the idea is a looser and softer feel.
