Both good options

With El Niņo, there's a good chance Whistler could have a bomber year. BC backcountry yo.

Got about about 15-20cm since those pics were taken and the coverage is looking alot better but there are only 4 runs open at the moment at Perisher and I don't think there are any at Thredbo. Heading down to Perisher on Friday so hopefully they manage to open up more parts of the mountain.

Mt Ruapehu is looking worse than terrible. I hope this doesn't turn into the worst season in years...

Its really to early in the season for a trip over from Aus, you should book August, is pretty much when things are generally rocking. Like you guys though snow is very fical in NZ, difference between awesome season and a shocker can be just one good storm cycle. Bring an old board is all I can say. Although Hutt looks like reasonable cover on the webcams its a chocolate chip rock fest up their.

I'm only heading there for the weekend and I got accommodation and tickets for $200 so I can't really complain. It is meant to snow over the next few days but not enough to make much of a difference while I'm down there. At least less snow means less crowds... Hopefully There's meant to be another 15-30cm dump early next week so I might head down mid-week if that happens.

Australian resorts are getting a dumping over the next few days.

New Zealand is still waiting for the cold front.
