Default New Zealand 2014 Season!

Figured we should get this rolling with the snow starting to pack on! Still a lot of trails being made in the north though.

Had my first excursion to Ruapehu last week as we were expecting some good weather.

Wednesday was bad with rain, snow and freezing gusts. Goggles froze to my helmet after one run.

Thursday was a nice bluebird day. Excuse the Xbox bottle as these were the only pictures I took.

<3 Ruapehu! Which side were you on?

I'm waiting for it to get closer to 2m base before I head up.

Leaving for Wanaka on Thursday so will take some pics

Wed, Friday, Sat at Turoa. Thursday at Whakapapa.
For Turoa, the only mid mountain trail open at the moment is bone yard so EVERYONE funnels into there leading to absolute chaos.
Whakapapa is quite good right now so if you have the urge I'd head that way.

Sweet! let us know how it goes.

Out west at Whakapapa has always been a favourite, but it seems there is a lot more base at Turoa.

Coming from Wellington Whakapapa adds too much time on my round trip

Not Saturday gone, but the one before up Whaka's was pretty damned good till the end of the day when the wind started beating us up a bit.

Haven't had an actual good day up Turoa yet. Struggling to see a lot positivity in this season given how much rain we've been getting up top, even if we've had occasional dump, the rain just seems to take it all away directly afterwards. Hope the temps drop a bit over the next months, but think thats being optimisitic.

Did Sunday/Monday/Tuesday in Wanaka last week. Two days on Treble Cone and one day on Cardrona.

Day 1 TC: Powder day, low vis, way too many people.
Day 2 TC: Tracked out powder, sunny.
Day 3 Cardrona: Hard pack day, sunny.

Here are some day 2 pics:

It's the worst season I have ever witnessed on the slopes in NZ, the snow finally arrived but in low quantity!!

Still it was good out there if you avoided the occasional rock

Looking nice down there, nice pics.

Our season usually goes until early/mid October.
