Yeah totally agree, I think they know they are the closest mountain to Melbourne and have used it as a reason to keep prices high and try to control crowds a bit more. Crowds last year were rediculous, the thing I am most pissed about is there is actually some nice terrain up top and on a good snow day is a ton of fun, just wish they would have lowered the price a bit for people that have been going for years
Not too bad, nothing like the weekends, I usually went up on a Tuesday Wednesday, as I found it was quietist but it was still kinda busy, you just stay clear of bourke, and burnt hut. Wombat centennial and summit usually aren't too bad
Wow, i never knew there were other people from Aus on here. I am going to Nz in the school holidays in july. I try to get to falls as much as possible, but i am still at school and it is hard to take time off.
Im a teacher so i understand about the time off issue. Some advice, go to NZ in September holidays, the snow is guaranteed and the weather is better, last year there was damn near no snow in June/July. Of course every year changes so it may be dumping then but i think you would enjoy it more in the spring.
Im from Perth, Aus! Did a season in Hotham 2 years ago. Basically stuck on Heavenly Valley and Blue Ribbon. Conditions weren't all time but still fun to ride. Once you ride Japan though, thats when the fun really begins. For all Aus crew who love to board, try make it to Japan at least once in your riding lifespan. Place is very special and the riding second to none.
Got another Aussie here. Been living in Japan for the last 2 years, and I'm in Sapporo at the moment (yeah tough diggs ). Still riding the remainder of this season, I think Hokkaido will still be viable until late April at the least, possibly May if we're lucky.
im from sydney only been thredbo and perisher, but went whistler for 10 days about 2 months ago and it was amazing, we were planning japan but language barrier kinda made us change to whistler. but my mate, brother and myself are planning another US based trip end of this year-next year so should be fun also wouldnt mind a NZ trip but money and time
