I am looking into buying an ABS Avalanche Airbag. I am going for the Vario model, probably 15L or 30L. For those of you who do and do not know, both of these two variants are really made to carry a snowboard vertically. You can also manipulate the straps on the bag to carry the snowboard horizontally but the straps are quite thin and not made of any purpose built material. So, I think it would not be long before the snowboard edges would cut through the straps. Does anyone know of a product that you can put on your snowboards edges that effectively acts as a scabbard, bearing in mind that you only need to cover a width of about a couple of feet max on each edge (so its just wider than the width between the straps) and also bearing in mind this scabbard should then fit into the bag when you want to ride down (so either it is flexible like bendable rubber or foam or, each sheath is made up of several shorter parts).
Any exsisting products or any suggestions for what might be used are welcome. Cheers, T PS. I ride a fairly long board (165 Nitro Magnum) so its so much easier to carry the board horizontally than vertically. |

Not to state the obvious...
But if your worried about it why not just wrap the straps where they contact the board with a bit of Duct tape? Problem solved! Once it starts gnawing through the tape rip it off and put new stuff on!
