Default Online Avalanche Course.

While it is highly recomended to take a level one Avalanche course, the reality is often time and money prevent many from ever getting around to doing it. I have found a really decent online course that is presented by the Canadian Avalanche Association. This course is free and costs nothing more than your time. So close up 2girls1cup.com, pour yourself a drink and spend some time watching something that while not a substitute for a full on avy course, just could save your life or that of a riding partner.

I'm going to Jackson Hole in three weeks, so I actually might be in some avy danger out there. Thanks for the link! I'm pouring my drink right now.

I would suggest taking this every year if you are out in the backcountry.

its a good link with lots of good info, but be fooled into thinking you know what you are doing simply by reading some stuff. if you don't get out there and physically dig pits, analyze snow and slopes, learn how to use a transceiver, know some first aid, then you are NOT safe to travel in the backcountry.
I read a book the other day about how astronauts survive in space, does that mean I can jump on the next space shuttle?

Don't get me wrong, it is a great link, plenty of good info for a REFRESHER course.
