Ok, so Ive got all my avy gear, I've got my AST 1 scheduled in 3 weeks, so now I need a split. Even got a smoking deal on some poles.
For some reason I am still a bit confused but the hardware required and have some questions. If I split my board, or buy a split without gear, all I need to buy is a Voile Universal kit right? (Voile Universal Splitboard Interface from Backcountry.com), and some skins of course. If so does that mean I could do something like this : Rome Whiteroom Split Snowboard from Backcountry.com , combined with the universal kit and get a full split for under $700? From there I can just use all my regular gear right? I understand there are split-specific bindings that make a big difference, but i think I will hold off for a bit on those. You'd need skins with that Rome too.
I know they say this: "—all you need is a universal splitboard hardware kit and some bindings." But, if you look over on the right side, you'll also see this: "Skins Included: no" Online product descriptions can be a little confusing to downright misleading. I'd put this one pretty close to being the latter. Always look for the detailed description of exactly what is included.

I currently ride a Raptor X with a waist of 26.8 and I am thinking of a Venture Zephyr NOT wide, but the waist is still 26. Will this be alright with L/XL bindings?
Im thinking that that 0.8 cm combined with being a bit higher up on the bindings should be fine, but would like some confirmation before I bite the bullet? |
