TR: Bert with pros

12-16-2010

There is a reason they have the label Pro Snowboarder.

I was lucky enough to get asked by a legend in his own right, Bob Klein to guide him and a couple of his pro snowboarding clients on Berthoud Pass. He brought along Justin Lamoureux and Ross Baker. They were in town for the Dew Tour but had a break and were able to out for some backcountry turns.

Justin off of Lift Tower.

The long distance air of the day went to Ross in Rush Chute.

After taking these guys to Lift Gully and Rush chute lines I pointed them over to Triple Rock. One of the more legendary hucks at Bert. I've done the lower tier but that's about as big as my nuts get these days. They saw some "lines" off of the second tier. I had no idea what they were talking about until they did it.
Justin rode the spine from 25-30ft up.

Ross' line was equally insane though I didn't have the angle. Bob was shooting with the HD cam and he needed the spot. Rightfully so.

He stomped it regardless.

And Justin put a video from the day up on his blog.

Insane lines!!!

Wow, must've been great to see in person and see the lines they choose. So what would you say differentiates 'pros' from advanced non-pro riders?

I see a cliff line and see maybe a line or two I can do. They see a cliff line and any spot on the cliff has a line down it for them. Board control is at a much higher level with these guys than say myself.

Ross Baker put his video up. Check it.

I could imagine looking at the cliff and hearing the lines they're choosing and I'd be like, where? What? Are you serious?

Thanks for the vid links as well.
