Twin Couloirs May 12, 2012
Well today I forced myself out the door to go play in the snow. My legs were pretty tired from my race yesterday, but I made sure I got out. Today we opted to go after the Twin Couloirs since I knew they still were looking pretty good.
Looking back towards the Great Salt Lake http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...Fixed-1-11.jpg The North Couloir looks pretty melted out so we decided not to hit that one. http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...ixed-1-2-2.jpg Here they are looking tasty http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...ixed-1-3-2.jpg http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...ixed-1-4-2.jpg Unfortunately, we were unable to bag both of them today since the left one had already cleaned itself out and we weren't up for fighting avy debris http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...ixed-1-6-1.jpg Once we were finally on the snow, Ryan couldn't contain himself and I think he forgot how to skin so he ran carrying his splits. http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...ixed-1-7-1.jpg Skinning across the apron it was best we spread out pretty far. Gotta stay safe. http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...ixed-1-8-1.jpg I finally booted to the top and was treated with this view http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...xed-1-11-1.jpg Ryan gets into site from booting up http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...Fixed-1-12.jpg |
I had a nice fun ride down

All smiles on a perfect corn harvest http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...Fixed-1-14.jpg We did a pretty good job with it. http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...Fixed-1-15.jpg Ryan coming down. He never knew it would be this much fun http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...Fixed-1-16.jpg http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...Fixed-1-17.jpg http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...Fixed-1-18.jpg http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...Fixed-1-19.jpg Such a fun day and we were both so glad we got out of the house. http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...Fixed-1-20.jpg |
Very nice! I've given up on couloir bagging for this season. The weather has just been too nice. That and you have to hike about twice as far before getting to snow line has me hiking and riding bikes instead. Way to get after it.

nice photo's, how long is the hike?

It took about 3 hours to get to where the snow is I think. Winter time it is a much longer hike due to the road being closed. Your only access then is sledneckin or a horse
