Aussie Spring Backcountry Pics

Heres a few spring pics from yesterday, the lifts closed a few weeks ago but there is still lots of snow out there. I went to test out my recently completed DIY SL split (and my legs) into the Australian main range. I went to Carruthers Peak and Mt Lee. I was out there for 11 hours and I can barely walk today lol.

The road at charlotte pass just on sunrise, as you can see there is plenty of snow. Thats my car with the sleeper cab I built so I can afford to do more days on snow.

Looking from the peak of Carruthers across to The Sentinel

Looking back at Carruthers after my first run, time to skin back up.

Looking at Carruthers from Mt Lee, you can see two telemarkers on the right hand side which gives some scale.

How about some pics of the inside of your "sleeper cab". That thing looks really interesting....and big.

Its just a box really. It has one permanent bed across ways and another removable one. Its big enough so that you dont feel claustrophobic inside it and also as aerodynamic as I could make it whilst still fitting my 6'3" across ways.
The gas cooker and stuff I just keep under the bed in a storage area. Ill take some pics when all my gear is cleaned out.

It cost me about $3000 to build and saved me over $4000 in accom this season. It costs me 3litres/100klm in fuel (0.79 gallons/100 miles) compared to when its not on and it just slides in, 2 man job, 4 bolts hold it down to the chassis. Takes about 20 mins to load/unload.

It looks like your camper has a radar blip of a small bat. Stealth technology and all.

Looks like some great spring riding terrain right there. Much steeper looking than what I have seen of the resort pics. Good stuff.

Haha yeah I get the stealth comment a lot.
There really is a fair bit of good terrain out there, next year Im going to camp out there to save a few hours of skinning in the morning. It would be great to wake up and use your energy riding rather than just getting there.

The resorts out here are pretty damn flat, being in a national park they are very restricted in the area that they can use and I can understand the impact it would have if every dickhead were able to access these areas. I was quite disappointed to find numerous cigarette butts on carruthers peak, smokers seem to think butts are acceptable litter for some reason.

Nice "truck"! I love the options you mates have when it comes to your rides down there. I am a fan of the Ford Ranger and would sell an organ for one of yours with the turbo diesels and 6 speed. We don`t even have that option up here and my little guy is so underpowered with a 3.0L gas engine.

Thanks for the wanking material.....
It is a bunch of bull that us auto makers don't produce more diesels. If they would make them people would buy them.
