Been waiting a few weeks to finally try these out and do a review, and had them fit awesomely on my board centering my boot perfect with the offset baseplate disc.
With Rey getting half a meter of snow within 48 hours I thought I'd better take a sick day off work and head up to the hill.
Near 3 Valley Gap i get stopped for a scheduled avalanche control 9 minutes of them closing the road for 2 hours...
At least I was near the front of the line and once the hwy reopened I was off.
5'10" 200 lbs
Size 12 Northwave Decades (Pretty stiff)
Lg 2013 Formulas
07 61 Lib Dark Series wide (Camber MTX)
96% freeriding, steeps and trees. 4% Park and most of that is in the pipe.
So A few hours late finally strap in. My initial reaction was my board suddenly feels way more responsive. Nothing complicated about strapping in, straps and footbeds both feel super comfy. Had done the toe straps up around the front of my boots. Unstrapping was easy peasy.
Basically the new binders felt great and predictable right off the bat. And I proceeded to find some pow. Rode the bindings thru hard pack and ice, to super crud to knee deep fresh all without issues.
The board felt more responsive, almost felt like a new board way more nimble. At higher speeds I felt in control and would say the bindings must have helped absorb a lot of the chatter and felt stable in the more difficult terrain like chopped up ridden out mogul infested runs. In the pow they just felt like a natural extension of the board .
All in all I really like them. I had some freestyle technine bindings on there before and notice a world of difference getting something more freeride orientated. I think I would prefer something even stiffer to get even more response out of the wide board, but I might set the forward lean up 5% and see if that helps.
I have no complaints about these bindings so far.
