Charger or Factory?

Hello people!

I just bought a Flow Blackout and K2 Thraxis boots. I like to stay mainly on piste, fast and aggressive. I consider myself advanced, no park, pow when it comes but love groomers. With my already stiff setup I'm stuck between going for a stiff binding like the Union Charger, Now Drive (different tech is interesting here) and staying with the stiff theme or going down to a mid flex like the Factory, or Burton Malavita to bring some flex and forgiveness into my setup. I like response but don't want to overkill stiffness if it's going to hurt me. Any input would be much appreciated!

Can't find too much info on the board, but it seems like a medium stiff flex. Something super stiff like the Union Charger might make it a bit twitchy. I would a take a Factory instead. Happens to match the board better too looks wise IMO. :-)

Honestly, they should just quit making the Charger. Go with the Factory.

Nah, I think they should stop making the metafuse. That's a binding I don't completely understand. The carbon-injected baseplate and full carbon highback of the Charger make that a more direct competitor to a freeride binding like the Burton Diode.

I haven't ridden the Factory, but I rode a 2013 Union SL, and definitely notice an upgrade in responsiveness going to a Charger.

Just spent my first day on my Factory's on my T.Rice Pro which is a medium stiff (7/10). Loved them. Great response, super comfy, I'm a big fan of the ankle straps but the toe strap could still use some improvement - which has been a topic of discussion on Union bindings for a while now. Overall love them and the canted foot beds are awesome. I have knee pain and these really helped to relieve it.

The Asadachi's are dope in all black.

I'm surprised to hear you say that about the Factory toe strap, because I think it's the best I've used. What exactly don't you like about it?

It seemed a little thin over my boot, which may be a personal problem because I wear a 13. My boots aren't huge but definitely not low profile, they are on my upgrade list, but still have life in them so not yet.

Also they kept pinching on the outside of my toe - again seemed a little small but might be my problem - not universal.

I can still move them out one more hole which I plan on doing for next time out. I didn't for the first time because I have a phobia of putting binding straps on the last hole - don't ask me why, just don't like it.

Overall I love them - they are the best bindings I've ridden- could just use a more hearty toe strap for my large boots.

I've got them on size 31.5 mondo boots (14/15 depending on whose chart you use) and I've got them all the way out on the last screw hole. Try that and I'll bet you won't have the pinching problem. Mine don't pinch. I do agree though that a tad larger toe strap and a bit longer of an adjuster strap (whatever that piece is called that screws into the leather piece) would be ideal. Still, it's been better than my two previous binders by a long shot.

Sorry OP for hoisting the thread - but Factory all the way to answer the question.
