I purchased my daughter a new board in Sep (Burton), sales rep, I feel was just trying to make a quick sale, didnt bother to inform me that for Burton board I needed Burton bindings and ended up selling me some cheap version of bindings (looked and felt plastic) but let me tell you wasnt any cheaper than adult ones. Went to mount her bindings on board in early Feb and to my surprise I was told the ones she had do not fit her Burton board. :dizzy:

I only got slightly mad at the fact that sales rep should have some knowledge when trying to sell boards/bindings/boots to customers. (you would think anyway), I completely trusted them :) Went back and they wanted me to pay $150 for bindings that were going to fit her board (adult size)... Now keep in mind I was told she needs Burton bindings for Burton board, guy at the store is trying to sell me non Burton bindings for $150... knowing about Burton company I gasped at how much would Burton ones be since I needed them. Turns out, these ones fit and I got them for just exchange of the old ones. They even mounted them free. Now my question is, with her growing so fast, next board I get her, what do I look for when buying boards and bindings? Obviously, it doesnt have to be Burton binding for Burton board. I just do not trust sales people anymore. Will these adult size ones last her quite some time? She is only 9.

Onto boots now, she is having a hell of a time fixing her boots. I keep on helping her get them on and trying to teach her but she pulls and she is just not strong enough to pull it to be tight. What other alternatives do I have?

Thank you for your help... this mama is too new to this.. :)

What size boot?

I went through this with my son, he was in between adult and children for boots, but was on a youth board.
if shoe size is 6 or below , look at kids bindings, most will have a multi fit disc which will fit all brands. if shoe size is bigger than a 6 then you can go to burton smalls binding, or some other companies like ride have amedium binding that works fine. you just have to check the specs as to what boot size range.

as far as boots. I find ebay is your friend. My daughter i found k2 BOA boots for less than $30 shipped. the boa's tend to be easier to get on and many of the smaller sizes don't have a seperate liner so they are easy to put on. also this time of the year the sales start, and you can find many deals.

good luck

She is size 4 in boot. And when I went to mount the old binding that didnt fit, guy at the shop told me I can just buy (separately) plate for the binding. I looked at the guy and was like, but different (larger) plate will not fit the binding and he was like oh yeah it will. Again, trusting soul I went on with this info and probably looked like an idiot to a sales person when I said I just need a plate... and the guy who works at the shop mounting these was like but it wont fit... :)icon_scratch: thats what I said)... so, now I got her different non Burton bindings that fit on her Burton board... but they are adult (at least it says they are adult)... I havent checked but I am pretty sure they can be adjusted to fit her feet as her feet starts to grow...

I will try eBay for boots... sounds like a good price, I lucked out in Sep on both board and boots... Board was $100 on last season stock clearance and boots were also Burton and $30 last season stock clearance... But I need to look for different boots all together. She is having issues with these ones...

Thanks for your reply :)

+1 on the Boa boots. My son is 11, third season riding, the boa has worked out really well for him. Stalk ebay (you can set up email alerts) and the used gear shops. Also look for October swap meets, I got my son a Burton Custom board with Custom bindings (2009 or 2010 model) for like $100. Good luck!

Look for the Burton youth bindings XS - they have one buckle and will work fine for Burton size 4/5 boots. You can get these used for cheap. Also, this is the size you can start using the youth two strap bindings, but I found that the youth XS were a little easier to deal with for size 4. I found kids boot sizes were all over the place, so I just stuck with the Burton gear for the kids.
