I am trying to decide between several bindings that are currently steeply discounted and may fit what i am looking for. I recently upgraded to burton drivers and a gnu billy goat. I want to replace my old burton customs bindings which are probably from around '08. I have been looking at the union charger, union atlas and burton cartel specifically. I am 6 ft 200 lbs and an intermediate to advanced rider. The chargers seem like a cool binding and i can get the 50 percent off. The Atlas I have found for 140 and i have seen some good reviews but wonder if they may be a bit soft for me. The cartel also is a well reviewed binding and supposedly more adjustable than the unions. Anyone have experience using these bindings with the other gear that i plan to use them with or just insight on the bindings themselves?
I own both the Cartel and Atlases, they are fairly similar mid flex all mt freestyle type bindings. Between the two I feel the Atlases have a slight edge in responsiveness and adjustability, however in my experience Burton bindings have been more durable/reliable than Union.
I don't have first hand experience with the Chargers, but those are going to be more aggressive/responsive than the other two and probably a better match for your boot/binding setup and riding style. These would be more comparable to the Diodes if you looking between Burton and Union.
Went ahead and got the chargers. The should be plenty stiff and i got a great deal on them. Now to wait several months for snow before i can try them.....
