Beginning at basics for me please...
I have purchased my first snowboard which is a K2 Spot Lite Snowboard 2016 (excellent price on discount!) Usually I would rent equip but thought investing would make me more committed but have no clue where to begin with choosing a binding or boot!!!
:crying:

As a rider I know I need something that has flex but quite sturdy as I can be rough...
I want a binding that is easy to get on and off...
Do I go to a store rather than buy online...
Do you think I should get a boot fitted before the binding..

Any suggestions?

Welcome

Booties first...study the boot faq sticky and wiredsport's sizing thread both are in the boot section. Also you will need to post pics of you tootsies for Wired to properly help you :surprise:

Once boots are done then get bindings that will work with the boots...take your boots with you to the store to make sure they fit well with the bindings.

Thanks for your help. I admit I understood 50/50 of that :crazy2: but I am still learning.

That boot faq sticky had a lot of jargon I had no clue about. I ended up going on the wired sport's website but did not see the tootsie upload you mentioned.

The best advice I guess is to just try a bunch on with an expert.

oh, and most bindings are easy in/out these days compared to like 10years ago where the ratchets would get stuck because of ice/snow. you want lazy bindings where you don't have to sit down? get K2 cinch bindings or Roxy or Flow bindings.

look for something with a medium stiffness. Burton Lexa bindings seem popular here. I don't come across many Union girls... considering the diehard union clubs on FB, but I'm sure those are great too.

I would highly recommend measuring your feet following the instructions here: Snowboard Boot Size, Chart, Calculator, Sizing and use the size it gives you when you go to try on boots. You might want to measure your width too if you have ever had any width related fit issues.

Last season I went from a womens size 8, to 7.5 which both were causing bad pain. WiredSport helped me figure out that I should be wearing mens 6 wide boots. I just got them last week and the length was perfect (now I just have to wait for snow...). As a comparison I wear size 8.5 wide shoes.

As far as bindings go I'm not much help. I have the Burton Stiletto bindings and I am not the biggest fan, but I haven't owned any other bindings either.

Hi, Thanks for your advice. I measured my feet and good thing too as I thought I was a cm above that. It explains why when I first tried my last rentals It felt so loose which is why I asked to go down a size.

I should not have any problems with the width as my feet are narrow. My only current concern is I just had a foot operation on both feet so its been 8 weeks and I want to give myself enough time to heal before purchasing so the fits normal.

I've been doing my research on bindings and other advice I've been given and I really want a binding thats quick to get on so I'm keen on the K2 Cinch or Flow bindings but will need to try them on.

Also by any chance do you know any brands that have the whined up function/dial looking thing on the front of the boot? I just found this so much easier to stay in place and by pulling up the lacers into the secure parts. As my foot is slim and narrow it does not feel comfortable for me if I have to keep tightening normal lacers as before I would have to do this often.

When I was looking for boots most brands had a Boa option (the dial) or speed laces. I would look for something with a dual zone set up so you can tighten each section separately. If you have particularly narrow feet you might want to see if anybody has suggestions about a brand that fits narrower.

I was looking into getting flow bindings too. There are a lot of threads here about them, you might want to do a search here to look into the different models and tech (just make sure you are looking at newer threads, since the tech has changed a lot recently from what I understand).

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
