Help with choosing bindings

Hey all. I've been out of boarding for a number of years, and I'm trying to get back into it. I've been looking at which gear to get, and I've pretty set on the Custom X at this point. Bindings, I'm not really sure which ones to get. My preference for equipment has always been to be as stiff as possible, since I prefer a more aggressive, point A to point B as fast as possible style, and I'm not planning on doing any park with this board.

Before I had gotten out, pretty much only EST bindings could fit on burton boards with a channel, except that I'm not starting to hear more and more that non-burton bindings will fit. Could someone explain to me how that is? For bindings that i'm considering, the Genesis X was the one I've mostly been focusing on, but I hadn't considered any non-burton bindings, are there any that you would suggest that would go well with the custom x? I'm considering either Driver X or Malamute boots, as I don't think there are any stiffer ones, if that makes a difference for binding selection. Thanks all!

channel boards work with all bindings, but EST bindings don't work with non channel boards. binding discs normally come in the normal 4x4 discs and channel adapters. EST bindings have more adjustability heel to toe, normal bindings you can get a wider stance width. EST bindings also have a "hinge" that does something.. not quite sure on what. EST supposedly gives you better feel of the board as there is less shit between the bindings and board. there are a lot of pro's that just use reflex(the ones with discs) on their channel boards.

I have never rode a channel board nor est bindings.

if you want ultimate stiffness with price being negligible, you have a couple options.

Burton: genesis X is a good one, but the X-base is stiffest and Diodes(discontinued) are stiffer.

Flux: you have the XV(stiffest) and the TM

Rome: Targa

Now: O-drive(stiffest) and drive

Union: FC(stiffest) and T.rice

truthfully, I'd go with the Genesis X and Ions, but w/e you want man. at that point might as well do boarder cross.

If you get Burton bindings you should get Reflex instead of Est so you can choose whatever board you want when you break that one. If you want to adjust the binding in a direction the disc doesn't allow, just call or mail burton and they will send you a disc that allows for that. For free.
