So granted i've been riding a lot this season... but my only binding (previously favourite binding ever) is giving me severe pain on the outside of my feet and little toes.
i've paired them with my northwave decades which have maybe done 7-8weeks.
The toe strap has to be cranked down quite tight as i notice otherwise the outside of my boot can slip up slightly out of the binding due to the fact that rome removed half of the external chassis on the katana.
I am getting searing and severe pains and redness where the toestrap pushes down on my boots causing pressure points. This is the same whether worn over the toes or over the top of the foot.
Anyone found this and have a solution?
Is it likely to be the toestrap themselves or the boots being too pliable? - i've adjusted everything i could and considering just getting new burton cartels or something. or maybe new north wave boots.
which katana straps do you have? If it is the 1st year ones then those suck and you need the new ones from last year or any of the ones from this year. Contact warranty they will send you new ones in under a week.
I'd suggest another toe strap first, at least the seems like the cheapest fix. FWIW I also have Decades and do not experience what you describe with my Unions.
I have the 2017 Katanas. What size Katanas do you have? Each size uses a different size toe strap. I use a softer boot as well. The Katana toe strap can be positioned in front of the toe (like burton) or over the toe. I find that the setting that works best depends on your boot type. Also, the toe strap ratchet arms have 2 different slots on the side of the binding that they can go into...to adjust this, remove the binding from the board and push the strap down and slide it forward or backward. If you get some light and look down through the side of the binding you can see the two different slots. Experiment with the combination that-when the straps is fully buckled down-provides the most even amount of pressure along the boot. Your problem is most likely you are in the wrong slot/position combination and are clamping the toe strap down and only a small part of the toe strap is providing hold causing pressure points. Also, you can make a noticeable difference by adjusting the overall length of the binding slightly larger than your boot size....I have a size 9 boot. I use a M/L binding rated for size 8 to 11. I actually open the binding up to more of a size 10 setting this sets my boot centered over the board and gives me more room to adjust the toe strap. My final recommendation which has worked wonders for me: after a run, before you get on the lift, loosen your toe strap 1 or 2 notches while your ride back up. This will alleviate any pressure and give your foot time to circulate blood and warm up.
Remember you want the entire toe strap pressing evenly against your boot.
Lastly, I also notice that my Targas (size L/XL) have a longer toe strap and they fit my boot much better than the Katanas smaller toe strap. I have thought about switching them onto my katanas. Perhaps call Rome and ask them to send you a L/XL toe strap from the targas.
Do all or some of this and I am sure your problems will be alleviated
