Well your signature says you already have Cartels, what don't you like about them? What do you like about them? What do you want to be different for this set up? How do you ride?
I'm going to give cartels to my bro for my old yes basic. The cartels are good, but I don't think I am progressing with them. I ride about 10-20 times a year. I ride resort usually pow, groomers, ice all over the mountain. I'd like to get better at buttering and some jumps. So maybe something like that will help with that. Open to try something new since burton bindings are all I've known. I had Burton Missions before that, but one size too large binding.
The cartels aren't holding you back, they're probably one of if not the most well loved, well rounded, and versatile bindings out there. I've ridden them from jib sticks to stiff hard chargers and always been happy.
Other popular, well rounded bindings - Burton Genesis, Now Pilot, Union Force, Rome Katana, K2 Lien-AT, Ride Capo, Union Contact Pro.
Definitely not the bindings that ate holding you back. You just described everything they work for. Most used binding alongside malavitas for slopestyle and pipe pro scene.
But you said you didn't think you're progressing on them.
Gear whoring is bad, i know. You want to convince yourself of needing another binding even though you don't. But still, you could've just said you wanted something else
Seriously though, the cartels would have been right at the top for suggested bindings for your requirements. Then there are a plethora of others that fit the list so I suggest you start reading up or trying some out. There are literally hundreds of similar threads on this site.
My personal choice over Cartels is the Nitro Phantom that's around the same ballpark performance wise, but better.
All except the genesis are overkill for the Type 2 imo, and not quite in line with what he's after. I rode my Type 2 with Cartels and found the match spot on for how I was using the board. I tried it with my Drives and they definitely overpowered the board.
I recently put my old school 10.5 Ion's (2005) in some 2017 Rome Targa's L/XL. Fit seems right on the money. As you may know the katanas and targas are probably the most adjustable binding on the market, so that helps.
