best bet is to get it in medium. i have a pair of 08 betas and i prefer snug bindings as well. i wear size 9.5 vans and have 7-9 sized binders, it will fit snug. Then again it does also matter which boot you wear, some brands, like 32, tend to be a bit bulkier.\

all in all, medium is as snug as you can get

are you talking atv or mvmt series? The answer to that depends on which binding. They have different ranges

While theres a thread on it i might as well shoot a question in to save making a new thread.

For the spi sizing, if i am an 11.5 salomon f22 would i need to go the 9-11 Large, or up one step to the 11-15 Extra Large (seems a giant step, bit of an unfortunate point to pick as a sizing interval imo). Anyone got any experience with this issue?

Cheers.

because the f22 has an integrated liner it has a slightly smaller footprint than a normal boot, so you might be able to get away with the 9-11, but most likely you'll need the 11-15. You should definitely go to a local shop and check them out though if you can, remember that those sizes are just guidelines, snowboard boot sizes are all over the place
