Smile Rome Replaced my 5 year old Targas

So a couple of weeks ago I made a thread here:
http://www.snowboardingforum.com/bin...me-targas.html

Basically I have a pair of 05/06 Rome Targas which I cracked the baseplate of (not the disc) after 16 days of riding.

So it wasn't exactly straight forward but I had a win in the end.

I took them to the shop from where I bought them who said they would be happy to give them to Rome to try to Warranty.

Rome said they wanted proof of purchase. I thought that was a bit ridiculous but I decided to humour them...

I didn't have a docket but I contacted the bank I was with then and I got an account statement out of them which had the purchase listed, so I gave that date to the shop so they could let Rome know.

I get a call today from the shop saying that Rome will replace the bindings with a new set of the current model Targas.

So I thought I would let everyone know about my positive experience with Rome's Australian distributor and my local shop which is Snowbiz in Brisbane, Australia.

Sweet! Alot of companies would deny anything that far out of warranty. Some are nice and will sell you a new model at cost or significant discount. But hey, this is best case scenario right here. +1 for Rome customer service!

Rome's pretty awesome. You didn't have much time on them, that's probably why they did it, or they could have had a bad batch back in the day and did it in good faith.

I doubt I could get another pair of I blew up my 50+ day Targas lol.

Can't hurt to shoot them an email or a quick call. They might at least help you out with buying a new pair.

When Rome first launched I remember they had some "100 day" slogan regarding the durability of their gear. I don't think they kept the slogan for too many seasons. That would certainly leave the door wide open in cases like this.

I also remember people whinging about the durability of their first year bindings on the Snowboard.com forums(RIP). As I mentioned in the original thread, one of the base plates was cracked right through so you couldn't tell, but on the one that wasn't as bad the crack was at what appeared to be a defect in the plastic.

My wording was off...
Actually, my Targas are still going strong. Even my 390's with over 120 or so days on em are still going... they don't look pretty, but they still work.
