Flux bind question

I just got my sf45s today which are awesome! They have interchangeable base guards and I have no clue what there for.. On fluxs website the video showcasing the sf45s say that the interchangable base guards are for rc boards but they dont explain how are y... Therea also no instructions in three manual that say what they do as well. I'm putting these on a Ns heritage that is rc so I want to know if these will give my heritage any benefit.

So the replacement guards are just softer? What diffrence does that make and why sites flux say it helps rc boards?
