Strapless Bindings - Neccesity or Security

If a binding offered the same SECURITY and responce of strap-in or speed entry bindings but did not have toe or ankle straps, would you consider using them. Like, having a pilot even though the plane can fly itself (metaphor!!). Obviously there are switch bindings, but if a regular boot was compatible with the strapless binding.

I miss my clickers.

with clickers you need clicker boots... if you could use some regualr soft boot and the binding had some mechanism to hold it securely in place without the use of straps. the question is really, do you think having straps adds an element of security than strapless bindings. even if it gave the same performance results
