Will the 390s be too flexible for me?
I just went to the shop to check out bindings for this season. I was pretty much set on buying this years 390 Boss bindings but after talking to one of the workers he suggested the Arsenals instead. He thinks the 390s will be too soft for me. I'm about 220 pounds and these bindings will be going on my park board. I've used the Burton Customs on this board for a couple years which are pretty flexible and they worked pretty well for me. I'm not sure if the 390s are more flexible than the Customs or not. But based on the fact that I liked the Customs and they worked well, does it seem like the 390s will be just as good if not better? Just trying to flex the Arsenals with my hands made me think they are on the overly stiff side but it's hard for me to tell without riding them.
Any advice is appreciated. |
The Arsenals are probably Rome's stiffest bindings. Try the Targas as an alternative. The inserts will allow you to adjust the flex in case it's either too soft or too stiff. The 390s are softer than the customs, IMO.

Thanks for the reply. Does weight have as much of an impact on bindings as it does on boards?

I bought a pair of 390 boss and I weigh 200 and it feels good for me.
On a side note, I am not sure if it is my bindings or if it's a typical occurrence but my rachet on one of my bindings won't lock down. Now the day that it happened it was super cold like 10F n someone told me that it might be the spring freezing, which is why it didn't lock. Is that usually the case? Or is there something wrong with the rachet? I rode two times after that day and it "seems" to not have that problem. I also crimped the top rivet on the rachet, which might have fixed it |

As for the stiffness it's all personal but I think they are a mid flex binding just like Rome says they are. I think you would be just fine. The biggest difference between these and customes is the aluminum heel cup. This will make the romes more responsive. |
I appreciate the help guys. I'm gonna go with the 390s for sure.

Definitely go with the 390s. IMO, they are not too soft, especially for freestyle riding. I weigh in around 200lbs and I have never felt these bending under my weight. I've also ridden them all over the mountain and never found them to be unresponsive.. I've actually got two pairs--one on my Agent, and another on my skate banana. I don't think you'll be dissapointed.
