Contemplating a Contraband binding for my SL......

I've been riding my SL paired with 2011 Rome Targas for the early part of this season, but have recently swapped my Targas to my Ride Highlife. Now that I'm in the market for a pair of bindings for the SL again, I'm debating whether or not it's time to try a pair of Ride Contrabands on the SL, namely the Nitranes or Optimos with the new Stealth highback. Anybody got any input on these bindings? The SL is my all-mountain freestyle board for trees, natural hits, etc. I don't do a lot of hard charging on my SL though.

I haven't tried the Contrabands, but I have tried the Deltas with the Stealth Highback. I love the highback. It's rather thin and flat on the upper portion. Just comfortable for the boot to sit on. It also causes it to flex more towards the top of the highback.

If you are interested in speed entry, have you considered Flow bindings? Contrabands are lighter though. I've been riding Flow bindings for a long time now. Haven't had an issue with them thus far. Not even my cheap Flites gave me issues and my bro-in-law is currently using them to this day (they are 2006 models).

The ATSE would be nice for an all-mountain freestyle setup.

There are a fair bit of complaints on sites that the straps on the nitranes break a lot. Apparently the place where the webbing is attached to the main strap is a weak spot. I'm contemplating picking up some contrabands when the end-of-season sales start, but I'll be making a point of getting the non-webbed variety.

This was corrected via a manufacturing fix to the 2009/10 Nitranes, and Ride offered free parts to correct the issue. Newer Nitranes should have the same problem, but it is worth noting. If it does happen, Ride will send you a new V-strap.

i have regular Contrabands (no webbing), and haven't had any durability issues with the V-strap.

I hope you mean that they should NOT have the problem.

Yes that is what he ment. It was the first nitranes that had the problem. It was fixed for free and I haven't heard one case of it happening since then. Anything newer shouldn't have the problem.

Optimos are sick bindings. If I wasn't so content on trying Flows I would be getting them to replace my Contrabands near the end of this season.
