How do you know if the bindings are too small?

Hi, I'm new to this. I purchased F20, 2008/2009 model in Size 6 (23.5) boots, and I just ordered Burton Lexa (Small). I asked two different places and they gave me two different response to what binding size I should get. One said small and one said medium. Will the small fit or will the mediums be better? How do I know if they are too small? I tried to put the bindings over my boots today and they strap just kind of hard to put the ankle strap. Could it be just the bend of the ankle strap since they are brand new out the box?

Thanks for your help in advance!

If the toe ramp can be adjusted so the toe and heel overhang the binding similarly, then they fit.

Its okay if there are no space at all on the sides between binding and boots? As long as I can make the overhang similar its fine?
