Just my opinion but....

I see alot of threads in this section of people asking about certain bindings features. They get alot of responses about rome and ride bindings... But heres what I have concluded over the past eight years of riding... Burton in my opinion has the nicest biindings on the market.. I know flow has their rear entry deal and im not into that. But burton bindings have the smoothest ratchets, softest straps, cleanest design, and best colorways. Why is it that not many people on here share my opinion? Im just wondering if theres something im missing that isnt so good with burton bindings...

Fashion... It comes and goes. I've heard nothing but good stuff about burton bindings from people who use them, but I guess they suck since they are made by the evil mainstream company called burton.
I'm getting Missions for my next pair of bindings :) I've heard too many good things about them, should be worth to at least try them out.

I've owned four pairs of Burton bindings in my 11 years of riding ('01 Customs, '08 Missions, '08 Cartels, '09 CO2s) and aside from the Missions, they were all great bindings. The Missions were no doubt the worst bindings I've ever mounted to a board though. Terrible quality all around, absolutely no response at all. The Cartels were my main bindings for a couple years, but in the end they kept breaking so I replaced them with a pair of Rome Targas. The CO2s are one of my favorite mid-stiff flexing bindings as well, really comfy and supportive, great response for freeride.

I think a lot of people get into that "buck ferton" kick and hate on all their products. I probably won't ever consider any of their lower end or mid priced gear, but their higher end stuff is super legit IMO (albeit slightly overpriced sometimes).

I have demoed plenty of Burton bindings. I have ridden many pairs of friend's Burton bindings. I just got back from a test fest where I demoed the 2012 line.

Each and every time I ride a pair, I think to myself, "I like so and so binding better."

They aren't horrible, but just aren't that good in my opinion. The toe caps don't always fit correctly even though I have Burton boots and that causes them to come loose especially during a tail press.

An EST paired on an ICS is in fact very comfortable thanks to pure cushioning underfoot rather than cushioning over plastic plates. But I don't own an ICS board so no EST for me.

I do like the new 2012 Cartels and have liked the Restricted Malavitas, but that's it. Still, as I mentioned above, I can give you a list of plenty of other bindings I rather own.

As for colors? It's all the same really. Blacks, whites, blues, crazy bright colors, mixtures of any of these, some cool graphics here and there... all companies have these things so the aesthetic argument is pretty moot.

If you like Burton bindings, rock them. I just have plenty of other preferences like the Rome 390 bosses or Targas, especially the 2012 Targas coz boy oh boy do they rock.

Dude, the 2012 Targas are so sick. I don't know if you are familiar with my love of Flow bindings, but I'm actually strongly considering selling my FSE's to put towards the 2012 Targas. The new conformist 3.0 toesraps are the bomb. The highback has also changed to be more adjustable and actually, it is like the Flow NXT-FSE highbacks in the way they are adjustable.

Unfortunately, I still noticed the same paint chip issue on the chasis. Didn't see any chipping on the highbacks though which is a good sign considering these are demo bindings.

@agfracing: No, I was not in stratton.

I've owned 3 bindings in the past. The first were my original liquid's, no idea what or where, but they got the job done when they needed to. I tried a friend's 09/10 cartels and they fit very comfortable and felt amazing, so I bought myself a set. Then after a couple of seasons of riding, I was ready to try something new. Everyone was raving about Rome, so I decided to pick up some 390 bosses. In all honesty, for the feel I'm still liking the cartels. The romes are giving me some weird pressure points, the toestrap comes off if its not in the right spot, and they just don't feel as responsive. I've been tweaking the romes little by little and they are getting better, but the cartels out of the box were super comfy and for the most part I can't tell that they're there. Either way, if the romes don't work out I may try something else, but Burton definitely does right on their bindings.

i ride burton cobrasharks, and i find it odd that these bindings dont get talked about more often.

The A-Symmetrical heel strap is the most comfortable strap ive ever ridden. The toe strap works like it should, and the ratchet system is smooth as butter. I must say i havnt noticed a difference with the winged highback, but i dont think i press hard enough to get that wing to work. Compared to my 09/10 cartels, i much prefer the cobrasharks.

To be completely honest my Burton Customs and my Rome 390 Bosses are very similar in terms of how much I like them. The 390s are better, but not an extra 100 dollars better. I have a few complaints about the customs (shitty ratchets, toe strap doesnt always stay put), but they are comfortable as hell and worked great.

i was using burton customs and liked them ( used for one season ), but i do agree that it felt like the straps should have clicked a few more times... i now own drake reloads. i really do enjoy them... does anyone here use drake bindings??? don't hear much about them.

I forgot to mention the Cobrasharks, but I have in the past. They are for sure a good pair of bindings considering the price. They have non-winged versions for next year. I prefer the winged version. I don't really notice any difference in my presses other than comfort. I like the how the wing feels comfort-wise.

This is why I like the Restricted Malavitas as well.

I've seen people have too many problems with Burton bindings for me to put the money into them. I had some shitty freestyles that had a ladder break after half a season and my friend had his custom's base crack and break. These are both pretty small instances in the long run with all the people whose burton bindings work fine, but having 2 out of 2 burton bindings break will make me stay away from them for a while.
