Time to pick the bindings
Last week I picked up a 163 NS Legacy, and now I need a way to ride it :)
So after looking at the advice that people have given for an SL, it seems like the best choices are:
For conditions I'm going to be on mostly groomers, freeriding. No park, and until get younger and weigh less no jibbing either.
Budget isn't really an issue, but I've seen that a bunch of places have 390s for cheap. Are they too park focused for me?
Thanks in advance as always.
The 390/Boss isn't really a soft jib binding. It's a mid-flex binding which means it is decent for any type of riding. Sort of like a jack-of-all-trades, but master of none deal here. Well, it is the master of groomers :)
If you do a lot of steep runs, pow runs, and just plain fatty carves all day long, then the Targas will be a better choice.
If you hate bending down to strap in all the time or your mountain is actually a hill, then the Flow NXT-ATSE is a great option. It is also good for reducing foot pain greatly as the cap design gives your feet an even pressure distribution.
I run the Bosses on my Proto which is the same flex as the SL. I do all-mountain freestyle runs with a little park for smaller kickers and they rock in those conditions. I also had them on my Turbo Dream in Tahoe powder and I did fine with them.
Thanks Leo, it was actually one of your responses that I got most of the list form, so some clarification helps tons.
I originally was thinking Targas for the adjustability, but the NXT has since come up a few times and is warranting a further look. Is there a major difference between the AT and the ATSE? And the resin I ask is the you hit the nail on the head, my mountain down the street is mostly a bump, but we at least have a chairlift :)
The SE version utilizes only two ratchets per binding compared to the AT's four. The inner two ladders on the SE version are tool-less adjustable. This is like any other traditional binding. It cuts set up time by a lot.
So basically after set up they are the same? They seem pretty sweet, but an easier set up is not worth the still higher mark up I think.
What's your thoughts on the Deltas?
