So in trying to figure out what I should do about bindings this year, Nivek offered up some advice on another thread about looking into the Raiden Phantoms as a freeride/freestyle option. Reading their description online seems to understate that their new mini-disc is a 2 bolt system, created to give the binding more feel and flex by not having 4 corners mounted down... I hardly noticed this until i found a video of the rep. showing all the bells and whistles..
Nitro: Phantom Binding 2011/2012 - YouTube The only thing that makes me hesitate is this new mount and lack of experience with the company... everything about this binding seems comfortable and super usable. The air bags and design look super plush, and I dig the open toe design, similar to a few other companies... Also looking at the Rome Targa, 390 boss, and the Ride Capo... ![]() I feel that the phantom might have too much highback for me. it looks pretty intense. and these other bindings look a little more forgiving as far as flex... I do like to ride hard, but I'm not positive how restrictive the phantom would be when it comes time to hit the park and jib a little at will... any thoughts? ![]() everything i want looks like $250! not lured towards the Ride Hefe yet (350 ). hah

Mounting to (i hope) a 2012 Bataleon Jam 159... I have looked at the flux tt30... they aren't really described by my style... short highback, sound pretty soft, and I love the idea of having that extra cushion and canting, which the tt30 doesn't offer much to. The uprise is interesting, but I prefer manual transmission over automatic I don't really need the automatic toe strap. they seem like what I'm looking for, but again, some i have read say the highback is pretty intense. The flex is appealing though...any thoughts about 2 screw base mounts? Last edited by Kahanquest; 08-26-2011 at 10:16 PM. |

I think 2012's is there third year using minidisc so it works andd by now its dialed. The Xbeam highback is really well designed. It being flat at the top makes it great as an everything binding. Its there for turns to push on but being flat it doesn't get in the way in the park. They are well built and they don't have a single thing about them that I don't like.
