Nevermind...I see you want to keep the board.

There are many many options out there...do your research and keep asking questions. The Atlas and Ceptor combo would make your set up pretty dope. But you need to make sure the boot fits well and is comfortable, not to mention it's extremely stiff, which is good if that's what you're looking for.

Thanks for staying with this thread. I really appreciate it, as I'm not getting any bites on the other thread, so you're my life line right now.

I suppose I am wondering, for an all mountain mostly just freerider, what stiffness of boot should I get?

I've been reading a lot about boots on thegoodride.com. They seem to have there "picks" for this year for "All Mountain Freestyle" or "All Mountain": Good Ride Favorite Snowboard Boots

I guess, I'm curious... I read somewhere that any boot gets softer over time. So, getting a medium to hard stiffness boot, seems like a wise idea for me (since I never hit parks). Does this sounds about correct?

What I'm likely to do is go back to the shop that undersold me (for too much money), and have them order the Union Atlas bindings, then I guess find some boots at an alternate location. So I'm focusing my current hunt on the boots them self.

I came from a burton setup that dated to 2003, and I had been using it for about five seasons (didn't go out 2006 or 2007), so having good stuff is really foreign. I just want to make sure my decision will be solid and I will be happy, not facing a hindrance. Those old school Burton boots were pretty stiff, this is why I would prefer a med to hard stiffness.

What do you think for the riding I will do?

Thanks again for your time,

Matt

If you don't hit the park at all then a stiff boot is what you'll want to get. It'll give you a lot of response and control and allow you to be as aggressive as you want in your riding.

I ride park almost exclusively, and although most people like a softer, more flexible boot for freestyle and jibbing, I prefer the stability of a stiffer boot. So I'll buy a boot that's about a 6-7 on the stiffness scale and it'll soften up over time to where I like it.

Different boot brands have unique characteristics. I find Celsius boots fit much differently than 32 which fit much differently than Vans. Some are better suited for wide feet, others more narrow feet, some better suited for large calfs, others for narrow ankles. I've bought some ill-fitting boots in the past and had to suffer through riding with them, trying to custom fit them with shims and boot fitting tools. I finally decided to stop buying boots I only found aesthetically appealing and found a brand that best fit my foot and would give me the comfort and performance I was looking for which happened to be Vans.

Thanks for the detailed replied.

I understand what you are getting at. I'll look at the medium to stiff versus med to soft fit.

I guess the best bet here is to do as you say and go to a larger store and try on a bunch of different boots.

Probably gonna head to Paragon sports, and try on a bunch of random boots to see what works.

Thanks for your replies... now to just find some ones that match with the bindings.
