for a beginner, responsiveness?
I'm a beginner who will likely be at an intermediate stage long before the end of this winter. I'll be up on the slopes quite a bit (gone up twice, first time snowboarding a couple days ago though).
I ended up getting myself a full snowboard setup to dive into the sport: K2 raygun, Burton custom bindings, and Ride Anthem Boa boots. All the newest-year stuff.
I'm wondering: My Burton customs are rated as a responsiveness of 4. My Ride Anthem Boas are also rated as a flex of 4 out of a scale of 10 (I realize the scales are different of course).
Anyway, I'm wondering why I'd want more or less responsiveness out of my bindings. Is the match I've done with the bindings, boots, and board quite fitting? The idea was to be able to learn anything and everything, and to continue to enjoy the mountain even after I've learned all that.
Every company has their own rating scale. They're not interchangeable. As long as there isn't a huge discrepancy between the flex of your board and bindings, you'll be just fine.
For starting out, I think softer is better in general. It's just more forgiving.
