Burton and Flux play nice together!
 

not sure if anyone cares, but i know there's sometimes questions about boot/binding compatibility between different brands. I had my concerns as well, and needed new boots this season. Picked up the Ions in size 10.5 on clearance sale. I use 2011 Flux TT30 (Large) bindings. They fit fine, no adjustments necessary:

I wonder if you could've gone with the size mediums and adjusted the straps?

I agree, Flux's are so comfy and easy to get used to.
The only thing that needs massive improvement is their crap quality strap and maybe their buckles.

10.5 is one of those in between sizes where you can go either medium or large, and with my older, more bulky boots the larges were a better fit for me.

i really think boots, board, bindings everything is all a matter of opinion and what feels and works best for you. these bindings are the best ive ever had for what i do on the hill, hands down.

After riding Flux, everything else feels downright uncomfortable.

How far forward did you move the bindings? On my size large I had to move them all the way out to the toe side edge just to center my size 10's. With the burton shrink tech in the Ion's thats a 9.5. That boot must have some serious heel overhang.

my bindings are set at +15/-6 and are centered on the board from edge to edge (approximately). There is minimal heel overhang:

I'm riding size 8's in medium Flux's and I seriously feel this binding that accommodate up to size 10 with adjustments (especially slim fit boots).

Obviously chunky boots like DC and older Salomon's won't work.

I use mediums in Flux and Burton bindings for 10.5 Salomon F22s
