Swapping Ride VXn for Burton Missions

I've been using Ride VXn bindings (current board: 2010 Arbor Cadence) for a few years now, and they work OK enough for my riding. This season I got some new Vans Aura boots which have improved my riding overall, but the boots are wider than my previous pair (Burton Emerald), so now it takes forever to strap in because I have to seat the sole of the boot in the binding just the right way or the binding won't buckle.

So I thought just for the heck of it I'd swap my Ride VXns for my son's outgrown Burton Mission bindings (size S, 08 or 09 year, can't remember) that are sitting around in my closet because they might fit my boot better. I haven't done it yet, and of course I won't know if there's any improvement until I'm on the snow, but I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the Missions and if I should even bother swapping. I don't want to waste a day on the hill if I'm stuck with a binding that's no better than the VXns. And my son will have to look away with distaste that his mom is using his old bindings  Actually, I don't think he cares.

I'm short on $$ to spend on new gear at the moment, otherwise I could look for a season-end deal on better bindings. I probably won't upgrade my bindings until next season.

I'm not a super aggressive rider, lately been riding blue groomers moving toward easy blacks, very minimal park. Haven't ridden much this season due to crappy early season and uncooperative work schedule.

I have the same problem with my Burton Lexas. They fit my old Burton boots fine. I bought thirtytwos this season and now I have to jam the heel in, it's so tight that even when unstrapped it's hard to get the boot out of the binding. Like you, Im waiting til next season to get new bindings. :(

Never used the missions but you can swap them at home to see if your boot fits or not. Take both pairs to the mtn just in case.

I had the exact same problem with vans boots and ride bindings (Vans High Standard/Ride Delta's) I used a rasp to shave about an 1/8th of an inch off of each side of the heels on my boots. Doesn't look the best, but worked like a charm. I don't really care how stuff looks as long as it works, and I figured my bindings would have scuffed that area over time anyway.

switch to some Rome bindings? :dunno: wife doesn't have a problem with them fitting her boots(Burton mint's and Ride Sage), but if/when you can get some bindings take your boots into the store so you can fit them to some bindings :)

I thought about shaving off part of my boot to make it fit better too. I didn't want to make my pretty purple boots ugly tho  I just figured it was an excuse to buy MORE gear :D

I actually rented a pair of 32s to make sure they fit in my bindings. Then ordered online because I wanted a specific color I couldn't find in store. the boots I rented were the previous years model and they changed the boot for 2012 fml

I've got my eye on some Rome Struts for next year. The price is awfully tempting right now...can't...buy...more...gear...

Me too...the struts are on sale at many shops.....

I just bought a new board and renewed 3 (!) season passes. I am on gear buying restriction. Two were really small local resorts tho.....really. I swear.

but now I have 2 boards and only one set of bindings. first world problems indeed ;)
