Contrabands dead!? - Snowboarding Forum

Checking out rides lineup for the new year and it looks like the contrabands gone to the way side. No version in this years lineup of bindings. I'm not sure if I'm dissapointed or not. I've always wanted to try a set but never have. It was cool tho with the different take on a quick entry binding.
Anyone ride the contrabands regularly and dissapointed to see them go? If were they really a solid binding or just simply want the quick entry?

Its their own fault. They were a pain to get adjusted and ultimately never really fit right.

I'm sad for it though, all they had to do was make the thong bigger. I'm still considering finding some 10/11 medium Nitranes and XL thongs and riding those till they straight up die. One of my favorite highbacks of all time, the urethane towers in the old Ride footbeds were soo money, once broken in the strap was great...

Too bad.

I know some guys who love them, including the dude I sold mine to. I thot they were terrible.

I saw 3 break on the hill in the span of 2 months from 3 different riders crying their way into the lodge, off a lift, or on the side of the trail.

Garbage.

Seriously!? Never herd of a total failure of them like that.. Sure they didn't just crash hard and something on the binding broke as a result? I crashed hard on a rail and snapped the tail of my kink. Board wasn't faulty just was the end result.

Not only was there alot of strap failure, but the physical design had some major flaws, the main one being that the thong holds down your big toe, which is good for ergonomics and control; unfortunately your little toe and the outside edge of your foot is what faces forward and collects snow. Without a physical restriction like a toestrap, or even like the thong on the big toe, snow builds under the little toe and outside of your foot, little by little until the binding fails. This is not a big deal for urban or park laps where you can clear it constantly, however dropping back bowls in waist deep powder they can be a NIGHTMARE - like every 30 feet..
