Nivek...seems a lot of the bindings you listed are pretty much in the medium or medium-soft range of flex. Same question to you about them fitting my riding style (Flux and Salomon specifically) considering my stiff boots. I am intrigued by the Flux SF45 and TT30 as well as the Ride Capos and Rome Tagras (my 9.5 boot is that sad "tweener" size for Rome, though). My interest is piqued by the Flux SF45 |

Holograms are very responsive, they just give a different feel tip to tail. Its more of a skate feel. But they will hold their own on stiffer decks, provided you like the looser feel in the heelcup. The DMCC Light is just barely below a freeride performing binding, responsive and light as shit. The NX2 SE's are stiff, the hybrid strap does work well and it will be better for someone searching for pow than the I-Strap. The Company is K2's stiffest binding and quite fantastic for what you're looking to do.

Actually I've been pushing people into Malavitas. Same glass content and same base (for Reflex) as the Cartel but with a stiffer torsional flex in the highback. EST is different as the frames are different between the two but I don't think a slightly softer base will make up for how much softer the highback is in this years Cartel.

Handling them at the shop, it seemed a marginal difference (I will be getting Reflex, not EST). Can I gather I won't notice a huge difference in a majority of my riding? I am suspicious I won't notice a major difference between most of these (again, I don't ride park, don't ride mach 10). |

Meh, if someone wants a high end, softer flexing binding, regardless of age, ability, or wealth, who cares?
Obviously higher end stuff tends to be stiffer and more geared towards an advanced rider, people will spend money on a high end binding, regardless. Smart move on Burton's part, and a valid explanation by the rep. Not something I would ever say to a customer, but I get it from a sales point of view. I have a buddy who's been on them for all of last year, and I talked to him at Boreal opening day, and he loves them. Really good rider, so I'll take his word on them. If you want to spend an arm and a leg on a softer flexing binding? Go for it, I know people in Vail, Aspen, Northstar, Whistler visiting with some money in their pockets will be. I hear it's a solid binding nonetheless, and I want to put some days on them this year. Waiting for them to pop up on the batcave. |
