Union Asadachi with canted/more supportive footbed?
Sorry for being one of my first few threads and bringing up such comment, but please let me know if this doesn't make sense or even just call me a noob I don't mind. But I think i have something important to share from my experience with Union Asadachi and it can probably extend to many other bindings.
So here is the story,
I took my Union Asadachi to Copper this weekend and mount them on a Gnu Rider's choice '13 154.5. I am 6ft, 180lbs in a size 10.5 k2 t1 db '11 and I am a regular with 23" stance
while I am not a park jibster at all, I do love trying different bindings and find the optimized combination for all my boards. The Asadachi are right in the middle of my quiver, with the rest being Ride Delta mvmt, Burton C60, K2 formula and Rome 390 boss.
initially, on my first few rounds, I found them really forgiving and flexy for my taste. Surprisingly they are responsive for fast run and choppy terrains (destroyed groom of copper at 2pm). On my second to last run, I accidently step my right foot in the binding coming out of a lift chair with a good amount of snow on the footbed. I was ignorant and still strapped in. Then I immediately felt the extra "buffer/cantered" padding from the snow and told myself heck, I'm done after this run how bad it can be. The result turns out to be amazing, I tried to jump, dash through choppy ground, fast edge to edge turning etc, everything just got done way better. I am not saying that I cannot do this before, in fact I handled them pretty well at good speed, but with that extra buffer zone on 1 foot, I was kinda more confident even though I don't know the physic law behind it. Can any one straiten my head on this? I mean, I just feel its way more supportive in the bottom of my foot (right) on small jumps, uneven ground and ICE ! I know the mtx has a lot to do with holding the edge on ice, but compare to earlier in the day, it really gave me the extra bump in self confidence. I don't know if it's just a placebo, but having the extra "padding of snow" between the binding and my boot is just something I enjoyed; so I went up again for another run and this time the snow was gone and i can tell it's not as comfortable as the previous one. So is it safe to say that a supportive insole is going to help a lot in snowboarding?
btw, my feet have a little "arc" shape (or camber shape loll) and maybe it's an issue I should've adress a lot sooner.
I havent tried the canted footbed on my 390boss but will do next weekend.
