Cartel or Republic for a new Angus board.

I just bought a 2012 Angus (153) for mostly free-riding. I may do some jumps but no other park features.

I weigh ~160LBS and boot size is 8.5 (Salomon Savage).
I am thinking about getting the 2013 Cartel Re:Flex or Forum Republic for this board.

I would like a mid to mid-stiff responsive binding for this board. I know the Cartels fit that spec but I also read that Republic share same tech as the Cartels and Missions. It's also ~$40 cheaper. Republic is also similar to the Forum Shaka but little stiffer.

I have the Shakas on my jib board(Skate Banana) and have been very satisfied with the Shaka for that style of riding.

Are the Cartels significantly more responsive than the Republics?

Cartels are not really more responsive than the Republics, especially not the 2013.

Main difference is the aluminium heel cup and the better customizability on the Forums. The Cartels are a bit lighter.

If you like the Shaka and don't mind the weight (I found them kind of heavy) then go with the Republics.

I had 12 Republics on my Angus 159 last year and loved them. I just picked up Shakas 13 and they seem even more comfortable than the Republics
