bindings too small?

Recently got a new pair of Burton Lexas, size M for my W7.5 Burton Qs that are from 3-4 years ago (but are new). The heel cup is a little narrow but I can get the boots in the binding if I'm very deliberate and shove them in. Now this will work, but I'm concerned about wear on the boots, since I've never had boots touch both sides of the heel cup.

I stupidly bought them without trying them together, thinking 'well they're both Burton...' and because I just really wanted a pair of Lexas after hearing good things. Will I regret it if I don't get bigger bindings or lower footprint boots?
