Default Need input regarding 2 bindings

Hello, everyone

First off, let me give you a bit about myself. This is my third season of snowboarding. I am currently still on my first setup which is a 2011 I believe ride kink 147. The bindings on them are burton customs.

I ride in ontario, canada unfortunately and we do not have any mountains. I ride 90% groomers and 10% park. I would like to venture into the park more in the future so I would like a versatile binding.

So I plan on mounting the bindings onto a new 2013/2014 never summer proto HD. The 2 bindings am I looking at are the 2014 burton malavita(navy with the wing high back) amd 2014 union contact pro with the new mini disk system. I am biased towards the malavitas because I am coming from the low end customs and they have never let me down.

I know these are brand new designs for this year and not a lot of people may have used them but any input would be great.

Can't go wrong with the Vitas. I think they're much more comfortable than the contact pros. I also recommend looking at the Burton Genesis bindings, that's my go to binding now, they're great all over the mountain and work perfectly fine in the park as well, not to mention they are definitely the most comfortable binding I have ever used. Just bought an HD also and I'll be putting last year's Genesis on it. But if you're set between those two, I'd go for the Vita's for sure.

So far 2 for the malavitas..cool thankd for the input!

Bparmz..the genesis is $50.00 CAD more than the malavita. How much more technology is put into the genesis than the malavita? Is it worth the extra money?

How do you like the contact pros? How are the straps and ratchets? Are they a responsive binding that can be ridden everywhere?

The kickback hammock on the genesis is the most comfortable high back i have ever used. And this year Burton put a new hammock strap on it as well. i havent tried that out but i'm sure its decent. So, Malavita will be better in the park and still be perfectly fine all around the mountain. The genesis will be better for all around the mountain and still work for the park. I don't think the genesis is as stiff as burton rates it which is 7 on their scale i'm pretty sure. So it comes down to what you want to spend as well as if you want something that is better in the park or all around the mountain.

Thanks for the info bparmz. .definitely leaning towards the malavitas..there is a snow show coming up this week in toronto and there will be burton reprensentatives there. Maybe they can convince me to go for the genesis.

I rode my Proto HDX / Contact Pros setup last Monday at Stubai Glacier in Austria and it felt great. Def really happy with the contact pros and yea I def feel they can go anywhere. Nice response, nice and light, I really love Unions straps the toe strap is awesome and the heel cup adjustability. Plus Unions lifetime warranty on plastics may be very useful. Only complaint is I wish they'd have used a tougher paint on the ratchets as the white is coming off a tad bit, powder coating them would've been a better choice than whatever paint they used in the ratchets
