2011-2012 snowboarding journal

Posted 12-09-2011 at 06:41 PM by Gangstatalk (My snowboarding Life)

A little about myself

I am a 26 year old male. I used to snowboard a lot when I was younger but then only went about three times from 2000-2008 while I was in high school and college. I was very busy with other sports during this time period and unfortunately did not have the time for snowboarding on a consistent basis. Also, I went to school in Maryland so there were not too many mountains in the region.

Last year in November of 2010 I decided I wanted to get back...

Finally!

Posted 12-09-2011 at 01:25 PM by NWBoarder (PNW Randomness and PooPow)

I GOT TO RIDE! No pow, but the groomers were good and the park was dialed. I had a good day overall, only really made on rookie mistake, and that was going into the park with my wallet in my back pocket still. Needless to say, I have a nice rectangular wallet shaped bruise on my ass. Still, it was bluebird like no other, and the conditions weren't terrible considering there has been no new snow for about 2 weeks.

Anyway, so glad I finally got to ride. It felt good. Although, riding...

2011-12-04 Second day, meh.

Posted 12-04-2011 at 07:57 PM by Donutz (This Side Up)

Went up Seymour for what was supposed to be a full day of boarding. I took the car, so I was able to bring up both boards. I had swapped around my bindings the night before, so I have the NXTs on the NS and the Romes on the Ride.

Anyway, there's not a lot of snow, so there aren't a lot of runs open. And even the ones that are open have roped-off sections everywhere. There were virtually no side-hits worthy of the name.

The parks are actually looking quite interesting....

Bluebird for Days....

Posted 12-04-2011 at 01:54 PM by NWBoarder (PNW Randomness and PooPow)

And I still haven't been able to get out and get some. I'm making it change this week though. Thursday will be my mountain day. No matter what. The goddamn world could be ending, and I'll be out shredding. Period. Fuck, this is turning into another angry rant, and that's not my style, so I gotta lighten it up. My kid turns 7 this week, and that makes me happy. Seven was a good age for me and I think it will be for her too.

I still drool daily over all the resort updates...

2011-11-27 First runs

Posted 11-27-2011 at 07:30 PM by Donutz (This Side Up)

First runs of the season today. Only Manning, Northlands, and Goldie were open so it wasn't the most inspiring day. On the other hand the snow wasn't hard. There were bare patches everywhere, and you can tell the rocks aren't too far below the surface.

I brought both of my boards up. The Heritage has the 390s on, and the Havoc has the Flows. I started the day riding the Havoc, which was very interesting. There's a definite difference between a camber board and a rocker. I felt like...
