I just want to ask why people in other countries take 1 feet out of bindings and then use T Bar & Button Lift ? where i live like 95% people use lifts with both feed in bindings.. and it's so much easier.. can someone explain why ?
My guess is if you fall getting up or most people consider the T-bar like skating around you do it with one foot in. I see many ppl go both feet but yes the majority are one footers.
Some of the T-bars and buttons I've seen don't go all the way to the area you want to go so you have to skate over to it. Stowe comes to mind on the little terrain park area near the gondola.
Most resorts have a one foot policy for bars and buttons. Additionally you can't typically navigate the lift line with both feet strapped in and there isn't time to strap in when it's your turn
I hate those things, but yea 1 foot in for me.
I wasn't paying attention last winter one day out, grabbed the bar, put it between my legs and thought the cable was already fully retracted so I leaned back.....wham flat on my ass in front of everyone. Then on my way up I saw 2 kids in front of me, both on skis, trip and fall half way up the hill. One of them fell off to the side and was fine but the other somehow got the bar stuck on his jacket and was being dragged backwards up the hill. I know I shouldn't laugh but...
Like bseracka said, need a foot out in line and not enough time to strap in before it grabs you. The one at breck gets on my nerves but its worth the frustration to get to that terrain. If I can get it under my butt and lock it in before I get yanked up the hill its a breeze but some times it slides up my side and that shit hurts my ribs but I hold on anyway.
Yeah like mentioned most resorts do not let you strap n both feet. That said if there is a flat-ish area on the t-bar I will sometimes strap my foot in while moving. I agree it's way easier to go up with both feet in. But it makes it way harder to want to stay in the track and not go carving out to the edges.
If there's no line or very short I just cruise in with both feet and grab on, you can move quick enough with both feet in usually. If it's crowded I'll take a foot out.
I can ride down most avg runs One footed so riding up a tbar One footed isn't a big deal. Unstrapping takes like a split second and I'm an old inflexible fat dude.
In Norway we are kind of forced to learn the drag lifts early on. Here we have lots of small resorts, and often chairlifts close at 16:00 or 18:00 but the park is still open till 21:00. I have never heard of a 1 foot strap in rule on drag lifts. Most of us 1 foot it because it's the easiest way to ride it since your often in a que and the easiest way to navigate is skating about. That and what I said before you don't want to be the idiot strapping in while a bar or two pass you by with others are waiting behind you, if your new and have trouble riding it to the top or latching on that's OK, but if your a complete noob and can't even make it out the gate after a few tries stick to the the belt lift on the Bunny hill or the chairlift till your competent enough to ride one.
